A Gorgeous Tower of Books // Summer 2018 Releases

It’s finally time! Time for what, you ask? Time to chat about upcoming books! I absolutely love searching for upcoming new books, making my Goodreads book release list, and finally, finally, geting to write an entire blog post all about NEW BOOKS!

Because you always need new books, right? I’m sure your TBR has shrunk quite small, and I’m here to help you make a leaning Tower of Pisa TBR. You’re welcome!

A. Keep stacking books. NEW books everywhere!

B. Keep ALL your old books. Why giveaway books when they can make an amazing TOWER of books?

C. Running out of money? LIBRARY time! Stack your books even higher!

me, dancing about summer time book releases

Dear Rachel Maddow – Political news & teenagers? And school? Plus coming of age? I AM EXCITED!

Mariam Sharma Hits the Road – SO DIVERSE! And it’s a road trip story!!! This book has a very promising premise. Anyone else excited?

A Thousand Perfect Notes – THE QUEEN’S DEBUT! I am so excited! And a second book is coming out next year? Cait is blessing all our libraries. Also, stealing our souls.

The Art of French Cooking Kissing This cover just looks so cute? And it’s about food and a rivalry and some romance? Very summery sounding. And I need cupcakes on hand because I guarantee reading about food will leave me hungry.

 reaper at the gates

A Reaper At the Gates – The wait for this book has been killing me. I can’t even reread An Ember in the Ashes because it’s going to absolutely kill me. I have so much feels for Elias, Laia, and Helene and I want them all to be safe. And KILL the commandant, already!

Not the Girls You’re Looking For – Another diverse book that sounds really cute? Also the synopsis is perfectly vague because I think I will be surprised? YAY for intriguing vague synopsis!

My Plain Jane – Historic jokes and lots of laughs everywhere. Perfect for summer. Also, a Jane Eyre retelling. (Two Jane Eyre retellings in one year? Brightly Burning, I need to check out this space Jane Eyre ASAP)

Kiss of the Royal – Battle Partners fighting against evil itself? And a boy who refuses to kiss? Sounds like a very magical fairy tale. All the singleness of the Royal in the tittle makes it very hard say. I keep wanting to pluralize it. (Is pluralize a word? IT IS NOW)

Bright We Burn – This epic series is coming to an end??? And I am very excited! I love Lada and Mehmed and I have no idea what’s going to happen? And that cover! Its so gorgeous! Also, keep all these lovely characters alive, please.

Fawkes – People are turning to stone? And trying to kill the King of England. This should be a very fun book. Also, I think the Fawkes conspiracy to BLOW up EVERYTHING will make a very interesting book.

Sea Witch – A villain’s origin story! Featuring the sea and witches and friends! Who else is very excited???

Brave EnoughA ballerina? In Atlanta? Prima Ballerina is hiding an injury and dark young man waltzes into her life, I think? Anyway, I am here for this cover. The intensity and beauty is so much!

City of Ghosts – The Queen of Supernatural is killing us with a ghostly story set in Edinburgh. *flails*

Darius the Great is Not Okay – The pitch for this is a Persian-American visiting Iran for the first time. And an amazing friendship that is precious and beautiful. And I am very excited for this book. I also think it has a very Adam Silvera vibe?

Need more help building a leaning tower of books? Check out….

I *might* be getting a bit excited for all these books! Especially Reaper at the Gates! Sabaa Tahir keeps dropping the worst  hints and I’m so worried about all these characters.

Also, I wrote this post while marathoning Harry Potter & lord of the Rings. Literally, watching one half of the LOTR extended editions. Then switching to HP for a movie. Then back to LOTR. Summer life is grand. (Watching right now, and Snape and Voldy are arguing about the wand…ensue tears)

lets chat

What books are you most excited about? How do you survive waiting for a very highly anticipated release? Do you reread books in a series to prepare for the next release?

What brand new debut authors are you most excited for? Have you pre-ordered any books? Do you marathon Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings?

Its been a while since I binge watched all the Harry Potters, but I used to do it every time a new movie or book came out!

There are a lot of gorgeous covers coming out soon! Too bad my TBR is already a leaning tower! Great Post!

I always reread books if I’m excited for the sequel coming out, but then I feel guilty for not reading the new books on my ever-growing tbr. The struggle never ends, especially since there are SO MANY amazing books coming out this summer!!

Ooh, so many exciting releases on here! I’m particularly excited for A Thousand Perfect Notes (because Cait is amazing!), My Plain Jane (because I need more of that fantastic humour in my life!), and City of Ghosts (because Victoria Schwab never fails to wreck my heart and soul into a million pieces!).

    • May 26, 2018 / 3:39 pm

I preordered ATPN and I can’t wait! Though I’m in the US and I hope Book Depo doesn’t take too long to ship it my way.

I haven’t been keeping up with all these releases just because they’re so many, but I guess I would say I’m very excited for City of Ghosts! I’m also looking forward to reviews of Sea Witch and Dear Rachel Maddow! I feel like I would be more excited about the latter book if I followed Rachel Maddow more closely, but I do agree that it sounds super interesting and enticing!

    • May 26, 2018 / 3:40 pm

I don’t follow Rachel Maddow that much, but hoping the book works well without too much knowledge of her show!

Drop some knowledge!
