EXCITING News + Some Books and Writing / February 2019 Wrap Up

the shortest month of the year is DONE! Well, almost. Just a few hours more till midnight. I’m keeping track like Cinderella.

Anyway, February was a fun month! Valentines and President’s Day and Cold days. And somehow i read more books this month than January? I listened to quite a few books, and I think that really helped! I’ve never been great at listening to audio books but I’ve really started using audio books lately and it’s been GREAT.

King of Scars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – I know it wasn’t everyone’s fav but I really enjoyed it, even when the plot dragged. Of course, I want to marry Zoya now.

Sherwood ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – this is my new favorite gender swapped retelling, ever.

The Poet X  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Did someone take my heart and crush it? because this book made me weep.

Sadie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – How much more could I take? not much. This book was an emotional wreck.

Love and Lies of Rukhsana Ali ⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Well, I liked the idea of this book. But there was a lot of triggering content that was VERY HARD to read

Dysasters ⭐️ – This month’s reading was going so lovely, and then came this book. Ergh. I’m sad because I was sent a real actual paper ARC but I just couldn’t get behind this book.

Moxie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – OKAY I LOVED THIS BOOK. It had all the Texas vibes that I love and amazing feminism and GREAT characters.

The Fever King ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – I’M NOT DONE SCREAMING. I’ve been hearing about this book for months and it was AMAZING. Everyone should go READ it right now.

Heretics Anonymous ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️– This was SO FUNNY and honestly deserves a lot more hype. everyone needs a story about a gang of heretics in catholic high school shaking up the system.

The Darkening Age ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A fascinating non-fiction read that was totally gripping! I was enraged, yes, by how much art and culture the early Christian church destroyed due to religious fervor. But also, this was totally great research for my current WIP.

Geekerella ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this was so cute???? I loved all the fandom references and the cute dachshund because I’ll always love doxies.

I feel so good about this month and my writing! The last three months have token a toll on my writing and I really feel like I got back into the swing of editing + writing + plotting this month.

I wrote 5k on my brand new story, edited an older story, and wrote several key scenes for my contemporary WIP. I don’t recommend working on 3 different WIPs at once, but this is where we are folks.

Also, I’m planning on submitting one of my projects to Author Mentor Match next month. Here’s to hoping i can polish up my query letter and get everything put together.

February was completely, very packed. January felt slow and too much at once, but February was actually really great? I didn’t feel like the month ran away from me or that it dragged.

There were some low points, but overall my friends + books I read, my work and all the coffee helped the month feel better. It’s actually really nice when you’re struggling with mental stress to just talk to friends and let yourself rest. 😊

Also, before I canceled Netflix, I was able to watch The Dragon Prince’s new season! I loved it! This show is my new favorite fantasy, and makes me reallllyyyy want to watch Avatar. Can someone send me Avatar so I don’t have to buy it? Because I’d really like to try that show out.

And I did check out One Day at a Time! it was really funny and I hope to catch up on it over spring break.

There’s also some GREAT music from this month! I love some tracks from Arianna Grande and Kehlani’s new albums.

OH AND MY EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT. I nearly forgot, I was distracted thinking about the Dragon Prince, Kehlani and my writing projects.

Anyway, I’m moving to work at Disney in May! I accepted a job offer this month and I’ll be moving to Florida to work at Disney World in attractions. I won’t know my role until I arrive, though we can all wish for me to work the Safari at Animal Kingdom, please.

Marie talked about blogging stats and what exactly they mean! I relate so much to this, since blogging stats do impact all of us as bloggers!

I love this list of favorite booktubers from Fadwa! If I’m not reading, I’m probably watching booktube and there are so MANY GREAT channels.

Soph is Blogging started a new writing challenge, and I’m so excited for March’s challenge! I didn’t find out about the february challenge till too late, but I can’t wait to read this challenge’s writing each month!

One of my favorite posts I’ve read this month, is this author chat with Victoria Lee! I absolutely love all the questions Lily asked and hearing more from Victoria Lee, because they’re amazing!

I almost completely forgot to write this part and that’s because I’m almost falling asleep right now. Sorry if this makes no sense because my tired brain is typing this and I just need more coffee.

Anyway, blogging this month! It happened! I think I posted seven times? and this will be my eighth post – and my 2019 goal is to post eight times a month, so YAY for keeping goals!

People keep googling Queen of Air and Darkness reviews and checking out my review, which is SUPER COOL! Maybe I should write more book reviews, haha.
Also, February was the Fierce Females readathon month, so I talked about Fierce Females a lot.

I also turned off blog notifications on my phone and it’s been super nice. I actually turned them off by mistake but i really like not having them on. Yes, I’m not seeing comments ASAP but I think it’s better for my time and health.

Oh, I’m excited for March! Since I work in a newsroom, I talked to the weatherman and he assured me SPRING IS COMING. And I’m ready. (i’m also completely read for a game of thrones trailer, can that happen in march sometime???)

Some books I’m hoping to read. Also, why am I posting THIS when I’ll probably publish a March TBR post??? I don’t know.

Also, SPRING BREAK IS IN LESS THAN TWENTY DAYS!!! I’m pretty excited because I’m driving to Florida and hopefully visiting Disney Springs. YAY. and THE BEACH. It’s going to be fun. And warm.

And time has gone SO FAST and March is the last month of my internship? So weird.

lets chat

  10. March 4, 2019 / 12:57 pm

I just started listening to audiobooks this month and I am SO happy about it! I had a huge chip on my shoulder about them (and kindles) because I love the smell and the feel of paper books, but wow. I can get so much done when I’m listening to an audiobook!

    Also – 3 WIPs?! Incredible. You’re a superhero.

ALSO – I’m going to Disney in Florida in a few weeks! So cool that you’ll be working there this year. Are you nervous to move?!

    • March 4, 2019 / 3:02 pm

Haha, I am nervous about moving! It’s exciting but pretty nerve wracking at the same time!
And you can do so much while listening to audiobooks! It’s been very helpful lately as I’ve been super busy and it is hard to find time to sit down and read.

      Hope your March is amazing!

I can’t wait to listen to the new Kehlani album!! TOTALLY AGREE about King of Scars; completely a solid four star read.

Drop some knowledge!
