June 2018 Wrap Up // Fantastically Hot and Political and Busy

Where have the last 30 days gone? I have some ideas A) They melted or B) I was sucked into a political vortex or C) I started working full time and waaayyyy too exhausted to actively blog much.

Plot twist – the answer is all of the above! I discovered I can’t really blog 3 or 4 times a week while working 8 hour days. Just a tad harder than going to classes and blogging in between piles of homework. Hmm…interesting.

Anyway, now to what actually happened in June.

Wowowowowowowow. So I literally have no idea how I managed to read this much? Eleven whole books? What???

I cannot wait to write a review for Renegades. Because I absolutely loved it, even though everyone else I know kind of hated it?
And I need to write a review for A Thousand Perfect Notes, and I am currently writing a review for the entire To All Boys I’ve Loved Before series. It will be published soon!

I did manage to write quite a bit at the beginning of the month, but when worked kicked in full time, it’s been extremely difficult to do anything.
But on my contemporary project I hit write at 10,000 words! Yay! I’m going to try to block out a weekend in July just to write. We’ll see how it goes!

And I did manage to write a couple more queries. I even got rejected by one agency, ha! Writing accomplishment, right?I visited Dollywood! It was a great break from the crazy busy pace of life. So much fun, super hot, and lots of music. I’m not really a country music fan, but I did enjoy a couple of the other music shows. And I am a the number one fan of rollercoasters.

I’ve also been pretty active with the Families Belong Together March and other politics. And I want to focus a lot more on my journalism life, so I launched a photo/video journalism blog Highheels & Tripods. Along with the blog, I have an instagram account just for my newsie photos. Feel free to follow me with both of these projects!
Not only do I get to chat a little bit about the news, but I’ve been missing working behind the cameras. I’m working a regular job this summer & I miss a newsroom. I can’t wait for the fall semester to start back up again so I can grab a camera and go hunt down some news. Being able to do a little bit this summer, starting a news blog & insta, is a great way to still be able to some journalism work.

And of course, there’s actual work. #summerjob

I didn’t post nearly as much as I’ve been able to do the last few months. That freaked me out a little bit BUT I had to realize that quality really matters more than content. And the stuff I did post was pretty great!

Can I skip looking at stats and numbers this month? Currently watching the Hunger Games and looking numbers is just too distracting, hehe.

I’ve been way behind checking out blog posts lately. And I really don’t have time to find the few blog posts I read this last month. Instead, I’ll share some of my favorite book bloggers! If you don’t follow these great people, check out their sites!

May @ Forever and Everly

Malanie @ Malanie Loves Fiction

Elise @ The Bookish Actress

Cynic on Wings

Tiffany @ Read by Tiffany

Fadwa @ Word Wonders

Lu @ It’s Lu Again

Savannah @ The Book Prophet

July will probably be just as crazy because, you guessed it, I’m still working my summer job! But I do have a few books I’d like to read

What Happened by Hillary Clinton. I picked up this book from the library and I am kind of looking forward to reading it? I need something distracting from the current political mess, haha.

A Reaper at the Gates – I’m currently 100+ pages into this book and it is SO GOOD!

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard – Will I finally get to this series this month? We will see!

I don’t really have anything else on my July stack? I’ve been too busy to know what I want to read! This is sad.

lets chat

How has your June been? Have you gone on a summer vacation or planning one anytime soon? Do you like rollercoasters?

What’s been your favorite read this month? Have you gone to see Incredibles II? What’s on your book stack for July?

What if It’s Us is soooo cute! I was able to get it through Edelweiss, so I’d suggest trying to request there!

Ah, eleven books is amazing! I’m okay with rollercoasters but I don’t like the extreme ones or the ones that go upside down. I prefer water slides. I am planning to go on summer vacation soon! My family is going to hit some of the New England states. Ooh, favorite read. That’s kind of hard this month. Hm, I will have to say The Screaming Staircase. It was good. Yes, I have seen Incredibles II! Have you?

Water Slides are so fun! But I am such an extreme coaster fan! And have fun in New England!!!

I saw Incredibles 2 and it was amazing, I loved it!! Have you seen it? 🙂 And I hope you enjoy the Magnus Chase trilogy if you get to it; it’s an incredible series. 😍

    • July 4, 2018 / 12:15 pm

I haven’t seen Incredibles 2 yet, and I can’t wait to see it!

  5. July 5, 2018 / 2:25 pm

Oh wow it’s incredible that you got to read so many books despite being busy! I can’t wait to read what if it’s us, this book sounds amazing and I only heard great things about it so far <3 Congratulations on writing so much for your WIP as well, that's so great! <3
    I hope you'll have an amazing July <3 <3

My favorite read this month was The Handmaid’s Tale. It was really different from what I normally read but it was so well-written and a really powerful story.

Drop some knowledge!
