Lots of Contemporary, Some Fantasy & ARCs // September 2018 TBR

Now, it’s time for me to be completely overwhelmed by creating an incredibly tall September TBR pile. I mean, if I actually do read all of these books, than you know that I have been blessed by some sort of magical spell. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (also, if you’re good at blessing people with magical reading abilities, feel free to bless me)

I originally wasn’t planning on reading THAT much this month. BUT then I visited the library to pick up TWO books and walked out with over a dozen books. They were just sitting there, all these books that I’ve been wanting to read FOR MONTHS. How could I just leave them on the shelves?

I am crazy. But in a good way, right?

Nice Try, Jane Sinner – I just chatted about this book, so in case you’re wondering, I’m VERY excited to read it! Already several friends have mentioned that they really, really liked it, so yay!!!

We Are Okay – I’ve checked this book out TWICE from the library so I promised myself I WOULD read it this month. Not returning it to the library until I’ve read it.

Grace and Fury – August’s Owlcrate book! It looks fairly good? Pretty sure this is supposed to be a feminist anthem, so hopefully it will make me somewhat happy and not completely mad.

A List of Cages – I saw this on the library shelves and picked it right up! I’ve barely heard of it before but once I read the synopsis, I knew I just HAD to read this. After all, it’s about two foster brothers??? MY CUP OF TEA.

Now I Rise – I will finally get to this book this month. The third and final book in this series was published this summer, and I even bought the second book. Though I resold it to a second hand book shop because I have a different edition for the first book AND I HATE having multiple editions for the same series. Anyway, ALL that to say, I need to finish reading this series.

A Semi-Definitive list of Worst Nightmares – I put this book on my Goodreads Want to Read list, months and months ago. Did it come out last September? I think??? Anyway, it looks very good so I grabbed it at the library. It was sitting right there on the shelf. I couldn’t leave it behind.

Girl Made of Stars – Several other book bloggers have recommended this book. So its been on my radar for a while. It was just sitting on the library bookshelves so I had to grab it as well.

Saints and Misfits –  Um, I just saw this on the library shelves, and it immediately grabbed me. Not sure if I’ve seen anyone chat about it in the blogging world, BUT it looks so fun and good? I mean, just reading the synopsis, I knew I needed to pick it up. JUST LOOK at the COVER! And it’s #ownvoices and I just glanced through several reviews, and it sounds AMAZING.

The Inexplicable Logic of my Life – Last June I read Benjamin Alire Sáenz’s other book, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, and fell in love with his writing style. Since then, I’ve been wanting to pick up this book.

Blood and Sand – Yes, I heard about this book MONTHS ago, but I’m finally picking it up now. And since I love pretty much everything romanesque, I’m really looking forward to reading it.

The Hidden Oracle – IS this the third time I’ve checked this book out from the library? But I haven’t read a Rick Riordan book since May, so I’m very happy to get back to one of my favorite author’s books.

The Incredible True Story of the Making of the Eve of Destruction – an ARC read that looks super fun! I actually started this, finish up the first chapter a few days ago. And yes, it was pretty fun so far!

My Plain Jane – I’m reading this as a buddy read with malanie, and I even started it yesterday! It’s so good so far, with a touch of the magic and humor I expected. And it’s about ghosts? YAY!

Hellfire Club – So this is by Jake Tapper, who I really like on CNN. And it’s adult political thriller fiction? I am really, really sure that I’m going to enjoy this.

The Assassin’s Blade – I’ve been meaning to reread the Throne of Glass series for FOREVER. And I never read the novella, so I’m finally, finally going to sit down and read this.

So that’s what I’ve added to my reading pile this month! Have I started reading any of these yet? Ssshhhh…. don’t ask pesky questions.

me, trying to read all these books in the next 26 days

lets chat

Can I really read all these books in one month? You guys taking bets??? Which books would you want to read if you had to pick a few off my TBR?

Which books on my TBR have you already read?

This is such a brilliant TBR, there are SO many good-looking books here,I don’t even know where to start, ahah. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on both Jane Sinner and Grace & Fury, both have been on my TBR for a little while now and they sound really amazing 🙂
I LOVED A LIST OF CAGES. Such a brilliant, underrated book – also, bring on the tissues for that one. But these characters were precious, really. I can’t wait for you to read it <3

WAIT ELIZABETH A LIST OF CAGES IS MY FAVORITE READ OF 2018 AND POSSIBLY MY ENTIRE LIFE. *screams* I’m so, so excited to hear your thoughts on it. *screams again* The platonic love, the friendships, the EVERYTHING is just perfection.

Also, I really want to read Girl Made of Stars! And I read Saints and Misfits a couple months ago and really enjoyed it. AND THAT COVER.

Now that my flailing is over- I hope you have an amazing reading month!☺️

Oh, oh, oh! I can’t wait to pick up and actually startA List of Cages! I brought it to work toady but I’m fighting a cold and took medicine and now my head is heavy and foggy and I don’t think I can start it today 😭

I did just finish Girl Made of Stars, and it’s amazing! It made me feel so deeply and painfully, it’s just so good! Definitely recommend it!

Ahh good luck for your Sept TBR!! And also planning it. 😂I’m SO hopeless at planning. I literally don’t know what to read right now so I’m blogging instead lmaoooo *cries indecisive tears* But omg Blood & Sand is super good and A LIST OF CAGES IS ONE OF MY LIFE FAVOURITES. So I hope you like it! I also love the And I Darken series even though i’m pretty sure the author thrives off reader pain. And I need to catch up with so man Riordan books by this point, oops. He publishers like 948 a year though. This is not my fault I am so behind.😂

    • September 11, 2018 / 8:14 am

Planning is the easy part for me, haha! It’s the actual finding time to read in-between work and college and everything else that’s SO HARD! Blood and Sand looks so incredibly good and I can’t wait to start it!
And why hadn’t I heard of A List of Cage before I spotted it at the library? Now everyone is flailing and telling me it’s so good and I’m so excited to read it!!!
And I think Riordan is an author machine because HOW CAN YOU WRITE SO MUCH? SO FAST???

  8. September 19, 2018 / 10:10 am

Good luck with your TBR! The Hidden Oracle is hilarious, it’s the perfect book to destress! 🙂

Wow that is a huge TBR! I know I’m months late so who knows if you actually read these but I can relate when you say you’re only going to the library for two books and end up with ten. I also need to catch up on all of my library books. My friend will definitely recommend A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares and I haven’t read any books on this TBR but we have a lot in common!

Drop some knowledge!
