It’s NOVEMBER! Time for hot cocoa and corn dressing and avoiding turkey. (because it’s very gross and why are we eating so much turkey again???) PLEASE, just let me have the cranberry sauce and green bean casserole and nooooo turkey. Thank you very much.
Now that you now how much I dislike turkey, let’s talk about November reading! I have several books on my TBR for November and I haven’t heard much about any of them? Meaning I don’t have A CLUE what they’re about!
For my TBR post, I’m going to include the book cover + my guess for each bookish plot! This will be fun! Because I’m in a ridiculous mood, so let’s make some ridiculous guesses!!!
This book looks like spooky fantastic beasts. because I happen to know this book is set in 1920’s New York City. Let me study the cover some more…
Doesn’t it look like a key? Some sort of key into the future..maby? And there’s an all swing eye. So, I’m assuming this book is about a magician who is controlling lots of spooking NYC happening. People are dissapearing left and right, and bodies are showing up. Murder! Mayhem!
And voila, Stranger to the City™️ arrives and starts investigating. This stranger has a southern accent. Because the author name, Libba Bray has such a southern drawl to it.
What do I think of this stranger solving these mysterious and confronting dark Diviners? NO IDEA. Let me surprised, ya’ll.
TBH, I haven’t even read the cover synopsis for this BUT I heard a youtuber talking about it. Am I excited to read this book? YOU BET. Even though it’s twice as thick as I imagined it would be. SO MANY PAGES.
SO, I admit I know a BIT about this book because I listened to Hank Green read the first chapter on his channel. (It was amazing and you should go listen to him read the 1st chapter)
But other than the first chapter, this book is a total stranger. And I mean that literally. The cover screams, GO AWAT at me, just because I’m not a fan of lime green. Okay, I am not enthralled with this cover.
Then I heard the first chapter and now I’m a bit excited to read this. I know it’s about a young artist in NYC who discovers a giant transformers statue. No idea what’s next. But I think these statues start showing up everywhere. And then they’re going to make the artist their Queen, right?
I mean, if I were a statue from outer space (that’s where I’m guessing the statues are from) then I would definitely be looking for a human queen. Right?
So I kind of know what this book is about? But I’m not super sure….
I met Tiffany D. Jackson two weeks ago at Readup Greenville, and she was incredible! Not only is she an African American YA author but she also worked in Broadcasting! So cool!
This book is about a girl who’s disappeared and her friend is trying to find her. Will she find her??? I don’t know!
Another book I have NO IDEA what’;s up with the plot. It looks pretty and I’m like a 10000000% confident this book is some sort of fantasy.
Someone becomes a queen with star powers. Good guess? We’ll see! What are star powers though???
This book looks SO GOOD!!! I believe it is written by a Muslim American and is probably #ownvoices. OH, I just looked closer at the cover, and it’s a memoir??!!! SO maybe this isn’t fiction??? IDK but I am so excited to read this book!
I’m pretty sure this is a book about a young teenager who is undocumented. And her struggle to try to get a green card and live a normal life. This book looks AMAZING and I can’t wait to read it.
This book has such Adam Silvera vibes??? And that’s all I have to say about this…except I just realized this book is about an African American teenager! OH! OH! OH! Now this has Dear Martin vibes and I’m so excited.
So, this book looks emotional and HARD so I’m guessing I’m going to cry. And that I’ll be mad about something unjust and just wrong.
My November TBR is actually NOT that much? Maybe because I have some MAJOR homework due and really, really don’t have a lot of time to read. #sadness
But I think the books I’m reading are REALLY good and will make for a perfect reading month. Also, two books I’m very excited about are coming out SOON and I can’t wait to read Archenemies and Queen of Air and Darkness! And finally, some books are on my TBR, but I actually know what they’re about. hehehehehe. So they are not included in this post, ha! (I’m probably talking about Girls of Paper and Fire)
What does your November TBR look like? Have you read any of the books on my TBR? Has it been a decade since I replied to comments (yes, I’m very sorry)
