Cue Olaf singing in SUMMER because summer time is here and it’s officially time for ALL the summer reads!!! Still looking for a perfect summer book? Then you’ve come to the right place, because I have some amazing recommendations!
I’ve tried to balance these recs out with some fantasy, contemporary, romance, and diverse authors! All sorts of styles and genres because it’s summer and you can read absolutely whatever you want. Though of course we know contemporary totally belongs to summertime, right?
High stakes fantasy with smoldering enemies to lovers romance??? Sounds like the perfect summer read to me!
We Set the Dark on Fire FITS the bill perfectly for a summer read. It’s lush and political but also is a very quick read. Right under 400 pages and I just flew threw it. There were intense moments and I was genuinely frightened for the characters. Please don’t hurt these precious girls.
Besides the great characters and fascinating, original world building, this book has some amazing political themes! You know I love some good politics in a compelling story.
Sadness cause there’s a cliffhanger ending that leaves me begging for the next book RIGHT now. Why did you do this to me?
I devoured this book in late April and 10/10 recommend. And yes, the entire book community is screaming about it, so it’s well hyped and totally deserves the hype. Why? because the writing style is very different and the characters are incredibly multi-faceted.
Also, Daisy Jones is from the 70s and the book just breathes into the mythos of the hippie era and the allure of big bands and wild life.
You know the characters drinking and drugs and partying isn’t the ideal healthy lifestyle, but you can’t look away.
Overall, my favorite part of this book is the storytelling. You root for the characters, and cry over their choices, and just can’t stop thinking about where the story went.
Have I screamed about this book enough? probably not. It’s hilarious and political and romantic and just so funny!!! THE read of the summer.
Also, my copy is supposed to arrive soon and then I’m going to take SO MANY pictures! Until then satisfy your heart with simply staring at the gorgeous cover and waiting for my copy to arrive.
I love a book that makes me DREAM big and that’s what RW&RB does – it just makes my heart imagine big dreams and crazy futures. That’s the perfect summer read.
Want a sappy read with a slightly messy plot? then Autoboyography is FOR YOU. It’s emotional and full of teen messy drama while tackling heavy topics about religion and sexuality.
I finished it ALL in one day and that’s a feat because it’s 400 pages long. But I also just wanted my precious Sebastian and Tanner to be happy, so I had to keep reading.
Also, Joe Jonas’ new song Hesitate is really meant for this book and these characters. Sophie Turner who? (jkjkjkjk, i love her)
Now, for a couple books on my TBR that I KNOW are amazing but I haven’t gotten a chance to read!
I absolutely loved Pride from Ibi Zoboi and I’ve been looking forward to picking up American Street for FOREVER.
A story about a Haitian girl navigating America for the first time? This story is going to pull on my heart strings and make me tear up. I’m also happy to pick up a story about immigration from a diverse voice and such a gifted author like Ibi Zoboi.
Also the cover? one of my absolute forever favorites, it’s just gorgeous and says so much so simply.
A book that just screams summer on the cover? The Boy who Steals Houses!!! Blue and Yellow = summer perfection.
I’m also sad this book isn’t published in America, so of course, I had to stop by my new local library and take some shots.
and if this photo shoot doesn’t convince you to read this book THIS SUMMER, I have no idea how else to convince you ¯\
Some other books I want to check out this summer, and you might want to add to your list…
What are you reading this summer or what’s on your summertime TBR? Any books you think I should check out? Do you have an all time favorite summer book?
