Happy end of Spooky Season! Has Christmas music started playing yet??? I’ve had quite a blast this last 31 days and can’t believe I’m kind of publishing this on time? My life has been chaotic lately and I wrote this entire post on the eve of October 31st.
Talk about procrastination. There’s a reason “pro” is in the word, because if you can get things done while delaying the task till the absolute latest, well then, you’re definitely a pro.
Anyway, tis the first of November!!! which means, let’s hash out what happened LAST MONTH.
I read four WHOLE books this month. And believe me, two of these books were long as heck.
Was it hard reading all these books. Yes, because A) I was super busy and B) all i wanted to do was reread Wayward Son. That’s what we call a book hangover, folks.
Frankly in Love ⭐️⭐️– Okay, this book gets more meh and meh the more I think about it. Ugh. Anyway, I wrote a review, check it out!
The Girl with the Red Ballon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – OH MY GOODNESS, ALL THE LOVE, this story is perfection! I’ve written a review, will be published soon! Keep your eyes peeled, folks.
Catherine de Medici ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️– This confirmed my forever opinion that Reign the tv show is pure trash. Catherine is such an interesting person and the tv show really diminishes her and tragically dilutes the real history.
The Dragon Republic ⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Okay, so The Poppy War hooked me from the very beginning. This book kind of dragged till about a quarter of the way through and i was just frustrated that i wasn’t as exciting as the first book. Took me two WHOLE months to actually read. Opps.
I’ve stumbled across so many great blog posts this month! Let’s see if I can remember and find them all. Because your girl has not been very organized lately. opps.
If you haven’t read this post from May about realistic portrayal of teens, GO READ HER POST.
Now, for several awesome posts on winning Nanowrimo! We all need all the help we can get for attempting Nanowrimo so check out all the advice posts. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Marie shared some five great ways to survive and yes, let’s all survive please. Alongside that post, be sure and read Cait’s 10 tips on winning Nano. And Camilla shared six bad things she did as a writer, so check out her post to learn what not to do while writing.
And now for some other Around the Internet posts to read from this last month.
the Emmet Till Memorial was vandalized AGAIN and this shouldn’t be happening. Arghhhhggghhh.
I think most of the people who read my blog are part of the “youths” so if you haven’t read this story from the New York Times, please read. It’s all about the surging youth vote and efforts to suppress it. An infuriating story.
Also, this essay on where one would be without instagram, gave me pause to think. but yes, still posting on my favorite platform like crazy ¯\
Remember last month where I said I was going to edit my book this month??? Well, maybe you don’t remember that I said that, but I did. And guess what???!!!! I finished an edit read through of my whole WIP. Eeeeekkk!!!
It was very exciting to keep scribbling in edit notes and actually get through all 270 pages of this lovely story. I care even more deeply about these characters and their story. You could say I’ve falling in love.
And I even made an editing vlog. fun! But I happened to loose the SD card with part two of the footage, YIKES, so now there’s just part one of the vlog. That’s how it goes, I guess.
Now, I’m sure you’re all wondering, Elizabeth, are you doing Nanowrimo??? Well, if you weren’t wondering before, now you are. Thanks for asking! i’ll post about THAT question later.
I HAD SO MUCH FUN THIS MONTH. But I also had a hard time, too. So it was a mixed month, really mixed.
One hard thing I did was realize my living situation was rather toxic and I had to move. That took a lot of energy and time. Moving unexpectedly meant I messed up on some of my writing/blogging/youtube and reading goals, because I simply did not have time to do ALL that and pack and move. But that’s okay, because mental health matters.
On the other hand, I did some fun things! Went to Orlando Pride, worked at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and kept up my Star Wars Story on Batuu.
I also, if I do so say myself, made some really fun youtube videos this month. It can be tough making content that doesn’t get a ton of views, but I was really happy with both my channel content and audience interaction this month. Youtube is still and will always be a ton of work, but it’s just fun.
Um, can I talk about how excited I am for November? First, Hollywood Studios is NOT opening at 6am every day and GUESS WHAT THAT MEANS. i don’t have to be at work at 5am every day, SO EXCITED. literally, my life is going to get SO MUCH better.
I also have kind of secret big news i can’t share yet??? maybe later in November??? We’ll see.
Also, it’s a big writing month for a lot of folks. i’ll talk about that in another post, fun! We love waiting till later, right?
And alongside my work and writing plans, I still have some fantastic books I want to read. And please, I also need a hair cut, so let’s hope I can do that as well. And new goal – stop loosing SD cards! eerrrkk.
On a personal note, this is genuinely my favorite wrap up I’ve written in five months or so. While I didn’t read as much as July, or do everything Disney like I did in August or June, the month feels balanced. We love that.
How was your October? Favorite spooky thing you did for this season? Carved any pumpkins? (I did not)
Are you doing Nanowrimo? Tell me ALL about your goals, please! best nano or writing advice you’d give?
