Stalking a Stack of Spring 2019 Releases

There are SO MANY incredible books coming out the next couple of months! which makes it very difficult to write posts about upcoming book releases. All these lovely books make writing a post forreeevvver. This is why I had to make an executive decision.

I have decided that spring is actually March and April. At least for me.

Partly because i live in the south and May is VERY hot and feels like summer. Also mostly because May has SO MANY releases that this post would become impossibly long to format. Maybe I’m lazy. I don’t care. Why are the books published in May? can someone tell me???

The Fever King – March 1st

I keep hearing about this book! It sounds AMAZING and the cover is really intriguing??? Also, it’s set in a futuristic America and delves with issues of immigration and rebellion. also complicated romance 😊

Everyone I know that’s read an ARC, ahem Vicky and Lily, have RAVED about this story on their blog and/or twitter. Definitely hyped for this book now.

And you should follow the author, Victoria Lee, because they’re pretty adorable and fun on twitter.

The Woman’s War – March 5th

So, I have a couple thoughts about this book. First, I’m worried it’s going to be, well for lack of a better word, cliche. Because there are currently lots of books about oppressed women fighting back. I think that’s a byproduct of the 2016 American elections.

I’ve read several of these books, and after a while, they can feel similar. Still, i keep reading them, because I don’t judge books by my own prejudices. 🙂

This books sounds like it could have some GREAT potential, and I look forward to checking it out! Yeah, I know how I started talking about this book. ignore my doubts and let’s read this book.

You Asked for Perfect – March 5th

I kept hearing about this book and I actually thought it was already published? then somehow I now have an eARC and realized this book is coming out this spring! Whoopie!

Also, this book is about school stress, so I can definitely relate. Maybe too much. We’ll see. And isn’t this cover just adorable??? It kind of fits my current college mental state SO WELL.

Internment – March 19th

I am so ready for this book! It sounds incredible and very relevant, and I really liked the author’s other book, Love, Hate and Other Filters.

The reviews for this book have been fantastic, so far. And please, local library, stock this book soon!

The Weight of the Stars – March 19th

A slow burn romance with a girl who dreams of working in space??? Sign me up.

Yes, the cover is stunning and I’ve heard amazing things about this book. And the author’s other book, so maybe I should go read The Wicker King right now.

Sherwood – March 19th

I just read the ARC for this book and all of you guys should go read it! It’s funny and an amazing retelling. There’s a friends to lovers story PLUS an enemies to lovers storyline – I definitely enjoyed it!!! I haven’t read many enemies to lovers storylines in a while, and this one was exceptional!

I mean, just look at the cover? Isn’t it SO PRETTY! if the cover doesn’t make you want to read this book right now, I don’t know what else will.

Also, yes, this is really a lot like Robin Hood, i.e., stealing from the rich to feed the poor. EXCITING bandit behavior and talking about justice. PERFECT.

Once and Future – March 26th

Apparently this is a sci-fi version of King Arthur? And it features a pansexual girl as the reincarnation of King Arthur??? Wow.

I’m not a huge sci-fi, looks guiltily at the sky, I mean I LOVE outer space, but robots and high-tech are not really my main thing. but this book has SUCH an interesting premise, because it’s an Arthur retelling.

I’ve seen people comparing this to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which I haven’t read. But if you’ve read and loved that book, maybe you’ll love this book! At least, I’m nervous & excited to check it out

Miranda in Milan – March 26th

When I first saw this cover, my brain immediately jumped, because it’s SO PRETTY!

Also, I haven’t read the Tempest, but I live for historical retellings, so this is now on the top of my want to read list. Should I read the Tempest first? The real question: do I have time to read the Tempest first? no.

A Place for Wolves – April 2nd

This is historical fiction about the Kosovo War??? I need to read this beautiful book.

Also, the short blurb made my heart stutter, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe meets Code Name Verity in this heartbreaking and poignant historical thriller”

Compared to Ari and Dante??? Historical Thriller??? This book is screaming my name.

And, don’t quote me on this, but I’m pretty sure this book is #ownvoices which is very happy!

Descendant of the Crane – April 2nd

I am very, very excited to read this book. So many of my blogging friends are already raving about how amazing this book is, and I DEFINITELY BELIEVE THEM.

Also, I did receive an ARC for this book, so I will be reading it very soon! I think this is how I’ll spend my spring break. Reading and talking all about this book.

Wicked Saints – April 2nd

This book blurb + the cover just hooked me in instantly. Also, I’m part of the blog tour… YAY! I’d never been asked to do a blog tour before and I’m so excited to read and post my review for the blog tour!!!

I think this book is Russian inspired fantasy? And the cover kind of reminds me of Kings Landing from Game of Thrones. Either way, this book looks gripping. Another spring break read.

The Devouring Gray – April 2nd

I actually don’t have any idea what this book is about? But I keep hearing amazing things? also that cover looks very spooky and draws me instantly in.

please don’t be too spooky. also please show up at the library soon.

Through the White Wood – April 9th

This book sounds like Frozen??? And it’s set in Ukraine? With characters who control ice and fire??? I am SO INTRIGUED.
And the author mentioned that this book is a stand alone, and you know how rare stand alones are in the YA fantasy world!???? I’m always eager to check out a good stand alone fantasy.

Starworld – April 16th

This book sounds so EMOTIONAl and the cover looks like outer space. There are so many space themed books coming out this year??? And I’m definitely here for all the space themed books.

King of Fools – April 30th

AM I VERY, VERY EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK????!!!! YOU CAN BET I AM. I loved Ace of Shades, the setting, the characters, the plot, it was a perfect recipe for an instant love.

The ending of Ace of Shades was, well, it was something. (spoiler: Cliffhangers, end of spoiler) Anyway, I’ve been waiting this book for a while. (narrator: an entire year) Also, I requested an ARC and I am terrified that I won’t get an ARC. (probably not getting an ARC)

I’m thinking about when I’m going to post my most anticipated books in May, because I’ll be graduating the very first Friday in May! Will I have time that week to post blog posts??? probably not. Because i’ll be something else super exciting in early may (stay tuned till next week for that announcement!)

Anyway, this was quite a long list of spring books! My poor TBR pile.

lets chat

What books are you excited for this spring? Do you know why so many books are published in May?

If you had to choose only one upcoming book for an ARC, which book would you choose?
