If you needed to save the world – who would you want on your team? That’s almost today’s question on Top 5 Tuesday. The topic is actually who would we want to rule the world with, but you have to save it first, right?
There are so many incredible characters in the book world, it’s hard to choose just five! But here’s to trying.
How many times can I include dearest Sam in a blog post? As often as possible. He’s simply the best. If saving the world is overwhelming, Samwise is right there to keep you going. And he can take down Orcs and Giant Spiders. If you know me, I’m terrified of spiders. If it weren’t for Samwise, I would skip through that scene in both the book and movie. I’m just really scared of spiders.
But Samwise the Brave isn’t letting spiders stop him.
“One tiny Hobbit against all the evil the world could muster. A sane being would have given up, but Samwise burned with a magnificent madness, a glowing obsession to surmount every obstacle, to find Frodo, destroy the Ring, and cleanse Middle Earth of its festering malignancy. He knew he would try again. Fail, perhaps. And try once more. A thousand, thousand times if need be, but he would not give up the quest.”
Nerdy, bookish, and she always has time for friendship. Hermione is highly logical and practical, something I skip over. Not the logic part, exactly. But deciphering through details to find a solution insanely fast, and implement it practically? Practical details are not my strongpoint.
And when we’re done saving the world? We can explore libraries. Stock up on books. And fix muggle politics.
Or maybe fixing muggle politics is part of saving the world?
“Are you planning to follow a career in Magical Law, Miss Granger?” asked Scrimgeour.
“No, I’m not,” retorted Hermione.
“I’m hoping to do some good in the world!”
So Kaz is probably the sketchiest guy on my list, but he’s also probably the cleverest. He masterminded the streets of Ketterdam, and I’m pretty sure he can figure out any other place. The ins and outs, the power plays, and how to make money.
Because saving the world is great, but without cash, you’re sunk. Kaz is ruthless, but he’s not unjust. The world isn’t a pretty place, and to save and rule the world, you have to be willing to do hard things. Kaz is both willing and good at what he does. Always planning ahead…ruthlessly efficient.
“I would have come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.”
Of all the members of the Inner Circle in Sara J Maas ACOTAR world, Morrigan is my favorite. While Cassian and Azriel are great guys, I’ll still pick Morrigan.
Why? Because she doesn’t let anything faze her. She doesn’t use her pain as a weapon or a weight. She fights for the future, her future, and doesn’t give up on the world.
And while Rhys while be more sly, I think Morrigan is also pretty clever. And she’s a warrior in her own right.
“There are good days and hard days for me—even now.
Don’t let the hard days win.”
I debated between Peter & Lucy for a while but Edmund finally won out. He has a hard start, but I love who he is. He’s never afraid to take on evil or defend what he thinks is right.
Lucy is always sensitive to Aslan. Edmund isn’t the first to see Aslan – but he’s the first to listen to his sister. He’s also the first to recognize evil – and to stand up for Aslan.
He’s Edmund the Just. He never forgets the forgiveness he was given and he’s always willing to give back to others. I’d want Edmund around to remind me that no-one is perfect and grace is our greatest strength.
“But who is Aslan? Do you know him?”
“Well – he knows me,” said Edmund. “He is the great Lion, the son of the Emperor-beyond-the-Sea, who saved me and saved Narnia. We’ve all seen him. Lucy sees him most often. And it may be Aslan’s country we are sailing to.”
Who would you want on your team?
Would you rather save or rule the world? And which Character would you pick to run the world?
