The Greatest Showman Book Tag //

I may not be a fan of the actual historical PT Barnum  (he was a giant jerk, don’t @ me) but The Greatest Showman is one of the most fun movies, ever. It’s just happy? and everyone needs some happiness, okay?

So, I was thrilled when I came across The Greatest Showman book tag! My favorite movie music+ books, yes please!

Also, yes, I am behind blogging this week because of evil midterms, so here comes a tag finally.

The Greatest Show | In Which The Intro Is Amazing

When I think of amazing intros, I remember reading Strange the Dreamer for the very first time. WHAT A MAGICAL BOOK. I love Lazlo and his obsession with Weep and eternal love of libraries is my favorite thing in the world. Also, please, pretty please, library send me Muse of Nightmares right NOW!

Strange the Dreamer is one of the only books in the world that I really wish I could reread without remember it at all because I just enjoyed reading it so much. I want to experience falling in love with Lazlo Strange again.

Also, I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the ugly American edition.

A Million Dreams | In Which Things Get A Little Too Dragged

Um, I love this song. How dare you say it dragged?!?!! But I’m not arguing with the tag today because this isn’t my arguing class.

So, for this song, I’m thinking of a book I enjoyed, but I just wanted everyone to kiss and be in love and stop worrying about hurt feelings.

WHAT, there is a PERFECT book for dragged out love triangles, tadaddadda, —- PS. I Still Love You.

I mean, why give us John Ambrose McClaren only to make it VERY clear Lara Jean will probably not choose him. John deserved so much better!!!

Come Alive | In Which There’s A Nice Plot Twist

I have decided that Leigh Bardugo is the Queen of Amazing Plot Twists.

Shadow and Bone Trilogy had some pretty amazing plot twists! I really, super duper enjoyed reading this trilogy this month. I mean, it’s not quite Six of Crows, but it is STILL good! And I can’t wait for King of Scars now!

Six of Crows is the ultimate basket of incredible plot twists. And Crooked Kingdom? Full of plot twists! I love it!

The Other Side | In Which A Villain Turns Into A Good Guy or Vice Versa

This took me a few minutes to think about? I kind of struggled, because most of the villains I know stayed villainous? Then I thought a bit more and decided I wanted to mention The Lunar Chronicles. I just needed an excuse, okay?

And there are some fantastic villains throughout the Lunar Chronicles. And some characters you will think are villains, especially in Scarlet and Winter, turn out to be good guys! And I LOVE them.

Never Enough | In Which You Hate The Love Triangle

I will never, ever support the Peeta vs Gale love triangle. I might not whole heartedly support Katniss and Peeta, but Gale should NOT be a part of the picture. He makes the story drag and is far too mopey and selfish.

Also, Katniss just needed to be left alone to chill for a while. She fought a war, and boys should not have mattered so much.

This Is Me | In Which Representation Is Amazing

One of my fav summer rep reads was Queens of Geek. I still love the rep from this book because it was short and sweet and felt so real.

Some other books with amazing rep that I’ve read recently…

Rewrite The Stars | In Which It’s ‘Us Against The World’ [Not Necessarily Romantic]

Ace of Shades!!! This book is the definition of ‘us against the world’. At least, in my very informed opinion. I really like Levi and Enne and their group of friends and I can not wait to see Enne and Company take on the entire city of sin in the next book!

Tightrope | In Which The Love Triangle Took A Wrong Turn

I will never, ever, support the love triangle involved in The Cruel Prince. I think this entire book will be MUCH better without any spark of romance. Just hate all the Fae, kill everyone and take the crown, Jude. THERE SHOULD BE NO LOVE.

From Now On | In Which The Main Character Only Gets Their Stuff Together In The End

For some reason, now I picture this as Monty chasing Percy across Europe.

Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. How can I keep mentioning Mackenzi Lee every other blog post? Because I LOVE her books and I feel like I learn so much from her characters. Monty is a mess™️, and he grows so much in Gentleman’s Guide. I can get behind this amazing character growth and learning about your privilege and just becoming a better human. Even if you’re still a mess.

If you want more of my bookish opinions, check out my youtube channel! I actually uploaded a video this week (yes, I made a video but not a blog post, shame, shame, shame) This video is all about books I think do not need romance, surprise! I might be a tad bit jaded towards love, ha!

Also, I cannot remember where I saw this tag??? And I’m completely  overwhelmed with midterms, otherwise I would google it. Right now, I have to write an essay on the state of American democracy, another essay on food and the incarnation, and keep planning our midterms election night broadcast.

But if you love the Greatest Showman and are not completely swamped by college classes and midterms, consider yourself tagged!

Great post!! I absolutely LOVE The Greatest Showman soundtrack; every song on there is a bop. (My favorite songs are probably Rewrite the Stars and A Million Dreams, though!) And you named some great books here; I loved The Gentleman’s Guide and Girl Made of Stars as well 😍
